How to Set up Microsoft Authenticator for 2-Factor Authentication
If you are required to download the Microsoft Authenticator for the purpose of two factor Authentication, follow the following steps:
1. On your PC you should be prompted to “Set up the Authenticator”. Click Next to all these options, till you reach a screen with a QR code on it.
2. On your Mobile device, download the ‘Microsoft Authenticator’ from the app store. ONLY Microsoft authenticator is works for MRC staff! So make sure you download the correct one.
The Icon may look different on the Google play store for Android devices.
Once you have downloaded the Authenticator, open it and continue the steps on the next page.
3. Click the + sign in the top corner of the Authenticator app
Then Click ‘Work or School account.
Then Scan QR code on your PC.
Once you have scanned the QR code you may be prompted to enter your MRC username and password. Be sure to enter your whole username with the @mrc.net.au extension at the end.
If you have successfully added your account, you will see the below screen, you will have to accept the notification on your mobile device and enter a number displayed on your PC.
Once you’ve entered your 2-factor code, you should see the below screen! You will be all good to go.
